I was riding my machine, not doing any hard riding, just open field. My oil light came on and I noticed white smoke. Stopped right away!

Checked the oil and it is creamy and my coolant is low.

Should I start with the head gasket or is this a common water pump seal problem?

Firsts thoughts are if it overheated on you recently?
Since you shut it down immediately you should be OK with your rod bearings. (hopefully)

So kawi shop said the water pump was the culprit. Also that the rear piston is done.....

Now they are saying they can do a top end repair for 3000....
But recommend a full.rebuild.as the bottom end will also be damaged... For 5000$

That's more than the bike is worth.

The service tech was honest about that as well. He said it would be cheaper to find a used or rebuilt engine

Not sure what to do now. May buy a new engine if I can source a decent prices one in Ontario
