New Years Day 2014 Ride

I started the year off right! My resolution is to ride twice as much as last year, so I got an early start.

The ride was from North of Emmett, Idaho to Paddock Rserviour - about 35 miles. It was cold +15 F when we unloaded but clear and little wind. It warmed up to about 35 F by the afternoon. There were 29 ATVs and RZRs and 32 riders. We had a bonfire at lunch break and time to play in the dry reserviour before heading back.

Thanks to the Emmett, ID chapter of the Idaho ATV Assn.

Hundreds of miles of trails in this area. Rolling hills and valleys go as far as the eye can see.

We saw 200 to 300 dear and one group of wild horses.

Not much snow. Is this normal for your area?
Look like a nice ride and even better with the group you had.

We haven't had much snow since early Dec. The sunshine and a few warmer days melt it off. Mountain ranges to the West and North suck up most of the heavy snow but we're supposed to get some snow and rain for the rest of the week. Guess that's why the elk and deer move down to these areas to winter.

Frozen ground and light snow means lots of winter riding - just bundle up and go with a group. You can get into trouble real quick if you break down or get hurt.
