Ivy Branch Trail System (Hatfield McCoy)

Passing this along for all the West Virginia riders:

Coming Soon: The Ivy Branch Trail System!

Ivy Branch Trail System (Hatfield McCoy)-134.png

Big news out of Hatfield-McCoy Country: The newest addition to the HMT Family, the Ivy Branch Trail System, is getting ready to launch this summer!

The new system is unique to Hatfield-McCoy because it will be the first
system op to FULL SIZE 4X4 VEHICLES! Located in Lincoln County, adjacent
to the current Little Coal River System, Ivy Branch will open with
approximately 75 miles of trails. Full size 4x4 features include special
trails and rock crawling areas. Other trails will be open to UTVs,
ATVs, and Dirt Bikes as well.

Hatfield-McCoy Marketing Director Mike Pinkerton said, "Plans to construct a
4x4 riding area have been in the works since the inception of the trail
system and we're very excited to be able to finally offer a trail to
the full-size 4x4 market."

Despite this big news, the future of the system is already being planned.

"Only a river seperates Boone County [home of the Little Coal system]
and Lincoln County so we are getting an engineer to design us a
beautiful bridge to connect Little Coal to Ivy Ridge," said John Fekete,
Hatfield-McCoy Trails Deputy Director. "This is gonna be a very big
deal for us and our riders will love it."

The Grand Opening of
the system is currently scheduled for July 15th, 2013. Look for more
news as we get closer to the big day!

Awesome! I am heading to WV to ride this spring. Unfortunately, it will be at the end of April/ beginning of May, before the new trail system is open. But, 5 days of riding will not allow me to sample everything anyhow. I cannot wait to get down there!

You're going to have a blast! What days will you be at H&M? And which trail systems are you planning on riding?

DLB,

I will be there, with seven others, on the 28th (Sunday) and leaving the following Friday morning (my daughter graduates on Saturday and it is about a 17 hour drive home ). We are staying at the Brantwell ATV Resort in Freeman, WV. We will start out riding in the Freeman area and then see if we want to trailer to any other trail systems.

Just thought I'd update this thread. Many people that ride in WV already know this, but Ivy Branch (and the Little Coal) closed down several years ago. Disputes with landowners I guess. H&M is reporting that they hope to have Ivy reopened this coming Spring. Of all the H&M trails, Ivy was my favorite. Beautiful and difficult trails.

Here's a video I uploaded years ago:
