Wink Regulator/Rectifier

Hey,

2011 BF 750. Battery wasn't charging. Reputable shop narrowed it to rec./reg. and I replaced with used OEM. Battery now at 16.5v at idle, 14.5v with lights on, and about 17.5 at increased RPM. Is it charging a bit too high? Service manual spec. Says 14-15v. Thoughts/comments are appreciated.

Prolonged periods of over 14.9 volts will damage the cells and may damage ECMs and CDIs. My OE was making 15 volts and I replaced it with an RMStator unit and it was perfect..all the time...at any RPM and load. Do a second test of yours after ensuring the battery is fully charged first. Also test the stator as outlined in the manual. Might have a shorting coil. If all is well and the same, I would consider...and recommend the RMStator rectifier/regulator. Here's a vid I did many years ago on mine.

Had watched your video when trouble shooting. Your comments confirmed what I already knew! I'll be getting a new RR. Much appreciated
