2005 Brute Force 750i melted sensor or switch

Hello this is my first time posting I just became a member of The Forum today this is also my first ATV I've ever owned I just picked up a 2005 Brute Force 750i. It had been sitting up for a couple of years so I had to get a new battery and I had problems starting it obviously the carbs were probably clogged up. Before I even got it started I had the ignition key turned on and after about the first 20 minutes I had tried to start it a couple times with the electric start it didn't want to turn over so I was looking at a few things and I noticed some smoke coming up from under the steering area and I traced it down to a wiring harness on the frame on the right side above the front right tire there was a plug connected to a small rectangular sensor or something I don't even know what it is, that's what I'm trying to figure out. It melted and smoked. I'm posting pictures, if anyone can tell me what this is please let me know so I can replace it. As far as I can tell it did not affect the ATV running I got it running and it starts now so I can't really tell what this electronic component does. Any help would greatly be appreciated!

That is your carb heat temp sensor. When cold enough it will send current to the carb heaters. Very common for them to burn like that. Bad design. Just leave it off for now...or replace it...pretty cheap.
