Default Rebuilding my small block

So here's my project thats almost completed. its a 1993 5.7L out of my Sierra that had racked up 373,000 on it. I pulled it out a couple weeks ago so I could rebuild it. Good buddy of mine was kind enough to let me hog his shop for this. He has all the equipment to do the heads, so he did the first set of valves and then I took over. we cut the seats out and did a 4 angle job, installed new springs, retainers, valves ect.

the block was set out to be bored, decked, and blueprinted. So I got all my parts back on saturday, and put alot of it together today. not alot left to do, maybe another couple hours tomorrow then i can work on putting it back inside the frame rails.

So the specs are .030 over pistons, hastings rings, .010/.010 on the crank, mellings oil pump, all new bearings, new cam (194 int./214 exh @ .398int/.442ex lift) just a small rv cam to keep it computer friendly, heads were shaved and the block was decked. its around 9.5:1 compression and 355ci with the over bore.

I will post more pics when im ready to put it back in the truck. I got a nice set of polished stainless headers going on it aswell. maybe i will post a sound clip of the engine running threw the 3" magnaflow exhaust heheRebuilding my small block-0131100857-00.jpg

I fired it up for the first time today. Got it on the first crank too! Thoes headers were glowing red hot during the initial cam break-in (2000-2500rpm for 20mins) but I assume this is normal since it truck is not getting any wind cooling, and the computer is adjusting the air/fuel. All in all, the truck runs very strong now! and it sounds amazing with the headers and dual magnaflow exhaust. Install went well, took me about 10 hours to complete. gonna run it up and down the highway tomorrow then bring it back in and to over everything with a fine tooth comb and make sure nothing has loosened off.
