Just a quick note for anyone thinking about removing the decomps from your cams.... I just had new cams installed in my Prairie 650 and had the decomps left off for potentially greater HP gains. I can tell you that even with high compression pistons, I was always able to rope start the Prairie in the past. With the decomps off, you would have to be Lou Ferrigno to rope start the quad now. Fortunately, she still starts easily. I just would hate to ever be out in the woods with a dead battery and have to try to rope start it. I am not a weakling (vtprairie - feel free to throw your digs in anytime :nana: ), but I think my arm would rip off before I could yank that rope hard enough to start her. :goofy:

With that thought in mind, how does the stock starter feel about all this now? And if needed, does someone make a higher power/tork starter for these?

I have a new battery, and just had the valves adjusted (of course) when the cams were put in, but the stock starter starts her no problem. She fires right up.
