bayou starts but wont move

my bike it starts and idles away, but as soon as i touch the throttle it just pings and wont move. it has no power to move but some days it works fine. any one have this problem or know what to do to fix it thanks

Had a similar issue on mine after sitting for a month or two. if by "pinging" you mean stalling... It was the carburator.

Would idle all day long, but as soon as I touched the gas it bogged down, even in neutral. adjusted the heck out of it, cleaned the heck out of it, and rebuilt it twice, with no results.

Changed to a carb from a Honda 4trax 300 and its been running like new ever since. Alot of folks are doing this, you get get them pretty cheap on Ebay.

If you mean the RPMs are pegging then you have a clutch or transmission problem.

Another thought:

When my front differential went out (locked up due to poor maintenance by prev owner AND myself), it would roll backwards but not forwards, and it wasnt every single time... just when the trashed bearings locked up...

Thats a thought too, in case the "pinging" your talking about is like youre trying to go with the brakes held shut.
