Default Goodyear MT/R's

I have run three different sets of tires on my Prairie since I got it in Aug '02.
First were the stock Dunlops.* They sucked!* 'nuff said.* However, I do use them for drag racing and set them up with ice screws.* They work great for this application.

Second were 26" ITP Mudlight XL's on stock rims. - Great 6 ply tire that held up to all kinds of riding, from decent sized mud holes, to rocky rutted trails at Hatfield McCoy, to trail riding through the Adirondack Mountains.* Put a solid 2000 miles on them, never got a flat, or needed to plug them, and they still had plenty of tread left to go.* I still have them, but no longer use them.* They worked well in snow, mud, and general trail riding, but they are a heavy tire (although not as heavy as many competitor mud tires) and I no longer play in the mud.* I prefer fast trail riding and play racing.* The Mudlight XL's do not do this as well as many other choices out there.

Third set, and the ones that I currently ride with, are 25" Goodyear MT/R's on Douglas Rattlesnake rims.* They are 4 ply radial tire.* They are significantly lighter than the 26" Mudlights and provide a much more comfortable and sporty ride.* They do ok in light mud, but do not clean out well in heavy mud.* They are fantastic for fast trail riding.* They hook up well and do not roll in the corners.* I have been running them for a little under 500 miles now and find them to be an excellent tire.* No flats, tread wear has been very good, handle great, and comfortable ride.* They also work well in the snow.* I plow with my Prairie, and they work great for that application as well.* I highly recommend them if you are not going to be going into deep mud, and are looking for a durable, lightweight tire that handles fast trail riding very well, and has good wear characteristics.
