Default New guy from NY

A new hunting buddy just told me about this site and I'm glad he did. The info here is great!!! Bought my '05 Brute 750 on Dec. 7, 2004 and its been a great ride.

It came with the Warn 2.5 and I put on Aluminum Products full skids, Dynatek box, ITP Type 6 wheels, Dirt Devil tires, Kolpin front box, shock covers, camo seat cover and Ram GPS mount.

It runs great but I did run into a problem when I didnt start her up for 2 months. The fuel in the carbs crystallized and I had nothing past 1/4 throttle. So after a good soak and reassembly she ran good except for lots of popping through the exhaust. I found out later on another forum that the air cleaner should be on when testing. I tried it and it worked. Seems like the carbs needed the little extra restriction to get extra gas into the jets. I even took the air cleaner off and tried it again and had the same popping problem. I only have the slight miss now but I intend to put a #4 washer under the needles like Dynatek recommends. Just hate taking off the side plastics.

Great site guys, keep up the good work.......

Hay Smooth, welcome to the site. One little trick is to get yourself a couple of cans of spray carb cleaner, then heat the tip of the spray tub and bend it to almost a 90. Then pop the aircleaner top, take the cleaner and rack out and the fire screen. Then with your finger, lift the slides and spray the cleaner down every hole you see especialy the main. That's the one the needle goes into. Then, while holding up the slide, have someone push-on the throttle. This will open the butterfly, and expose the idle ports. Spray down those too. While on your way back out, spraydown the slide too.

Next, using the bowl drains, drain the bowls. Now either use one of the overflow tubes or rig one of your own to the spray tube of the carb cleaner and place the other end of the tube on the stub of the drain hole. Open the screw. Spray about a third of a can in. Shut the screw/valve and do the other one. This will place the main jet well in the cleaner fluid. Let it be for several hours or over night. Put the aircleaner all back together, including the lid....

When you start it, it will run like sh#t just for a bit while it uses up the carb cleaner. After that, it should run much better.

I had that problem once after letting it sit too. I now start mine once a week. Mine also cracked a carb boot, so if it keeps acting up, do check those. It will be just over or under a clamp. Good luck...and again, welcome to Brute Central!!

Thanks for the welcomes guys!!! And thanks for that info NMKAWIERIDER. I never thought of doing that with the carb cleaner. Definitely will save lots of work. I still have to lift the needle with the washer but for cleaining, I like that idea. Thanks again.
