Duramax or Cummins
Sometime later this year I'm hoping to remove the plates from my current 91' Silverado and restoring it. I've become a huge fan of the diesels, and have been doing tons of research. I have always been a Chevy fan but there IFS scares me away.
I honestly don't care what manufacturer I drive, as long as it'll last. It will have to be used, currently I'm pretty set on the Cummins 5.9 but I've been reading up on there transmission problems... Ugh well I'm tired of typing, if anyone has any comments, they are appreciated. Just please don't bash the brands.
Oh and as for the Powerstroke, I don't want anything to do with it unless it's the 7.3, the 6.0 and 6.4 have had numerous problems, and I wouldn't have the money to deal with it.

restoring your 91 eh....NICE
I am wanting to do that to my 93 sierra sle z71 also (has 365,000km on it) but still runs like a new truck, its remarkable.
On with the diesels.....I have to say, its hard to beat the dmax/allison combo. that would probly be my dream rig (quad cab 4x4 short box, black on black) too bad that truck costs 60 grand up here new

I'll probably just grab whichever one I can get first. Not going to be too picky. The 91' still runs like new, but it's starting to show it's age a bit. It's only got 120k on the truck, and somewhere between 30-45k on the 350.
It's my first vehicle and I love it, but gas is killing me, also I'd rather go ahead and start restoring before something expensive breaks. You can tell it sat a lot, I removed the dash cover, and the entire dash is cracked.

Cummins is the best diesel made currently.
But Duramax is very close to being the best.
I suggest a Duramax and Allison transmission combo. That would be deadly.
