Those are some big fish! Are they actually any good to eat?

yeah the red emperor is one of the best, and the mackerel is simmilar to tuna. notice the blood? we wouldn't have killed it if we weren't going to eat it. my mate on the same trip caught one about 15 inches bigger

Nice looking fish. Never caught a red emperor before.

I just got back from the river.
We caught about 15-20 fish combined, mostly sheephead though not much was biting.

My brother is 2 and caught his first fish today. It was a funny site. He also caught my dad. I swear there was a 10ft radius when he tried to cast it.

A couple whiting and there were tons of blue crab.

We use a lure and go trawling for the mackerel, they put up a real fight, took me 15 minutes to reel it in I had nearly all my 300 meters of line out at one stage. red emperor are a bottom fish and we anchor over a bottom formation in around 30 - 50 meters of water and use a heavy sinker and a baited hook.

these are estuary cod, also of the bottom. Freds one got eaten by a 5 foot shark when he had it almost landed, and we were all amazed that his daughter was able to land a fish almost as big as herself! there was 10 of us on the boat, and you can see most of our days catch in the background

I had guessed from your name, bassmaster, that you may be a bit of a fisherman

Other than the outdoors I dont do much of anything else. If im not fishing, riding, wrenching, playing sports im usually bored.

All our freshwater lakes around here are being taken over by companies and nobody will do anything about it. Im going deep sea fishing in a about a month, cant wait.

That must have been quite a sight when you seen that shark take it.
