Carefull, you might just get what you pay for. Car boots weren't ment for the angles we have nor the abuse. When its my turn, I'll be looking for military-grade armor-cored boots... or at leased the heaviest duty boots I can find and I won't care what they cost.

You've got a point. This is the second one I've ripped.

i have not yet found a replacement. then again i have only ripped one boot so i really haven't been looking to be honest. but if you look at the 08 boots there muti ribbed. i think they have close to 7 or 8 as the usually boot usually have 3 or 4....

these 08 are more plasticy then rubber.... it cost me 80 for one boot up here... didn't even include the lube.

Replaced both outers on my front end friday night. It wasnt fun. Once we got the hang of it and quit messing around with the boot clamps they give you with the replacement kit it was alot eisier. It doesnt look as clean but unless you have a banding tool for the flimsy clamps they give you, do yourself a favor and go get some narrow hose clamps and use an impact gun works great and seems to hold better. Did 75 miles in maine the next day everything was great.

I actually pulled a skid plate off my friends Renegade 800 front cv boot. Horrable skid plate design. If you hit anything it jams into the boots. Luckily i had a winch and pulled it back off it.
If you ever have a chance to go to Maine riding, I would highly recommend it. Just have at least one guy with a GPS you can get turned around quite easy.

Once you get in the deep woods the trails split in numerous directions. It's easy to get mixed up, especially when it starts getting dark.

I bought a cheap universal boot kit to fix mine. The local dealer didn't have the original in stock and I didn't want to order with them (bad past experience). It'll be ok for now. The clamps do look flimsy. I saw on MIMB where someone used heavy duty (180lb) zip ties. I may go that route. Anyone else ever use zip ties on the boot?

i thought about using HD zip ties because i had them but i wondered if i could get them tight enough... Im sure i could have with vise grips and a screwdriver, but we had hose clamps and an impact gun so i went that route.

Yea the main trail was marked nicely but once we got off that trail and started looking for a gas station it was not good. luckely we ran into some guys who told us where to go and even then we got turned around a bit. So rule number one stick on the main trail (unless a GPS is presnt)
