I think the Backs are a dedicated mud tire. I understand they are one of about three choices that major-mudders use. Mudlites are not in the running in this class.
Silverbacks are likley the most agressive and best MUD tire out there, Mudlites...not even close. Totally different tires..you can get away with some mild mud with the mudlights, but still be a "decent" trail tire, the backs will not work very well on trails, but they will go threw mud like crazy.

what are the top three?
my guess is outlaws, silverbacks and ??
Hrmm.. To start off, as mentioned MudLites can't even be put in the same class with Silverbacks.
From my perspective the top MUD tires are as followed..
Bottomless:
Outlaws, Silverbacks, MudBugs
Hard Bottom:
Silverbacks, Outlaws, Vampire TSL/EDL, MudZillas, Mud Bugs.
From what I have seen and experienced, the Outlaws do paddle a bit better in the bottomless stuff than the Silverbacks. Silverbacks are very close though with the right throttle speed, however they can and will dig if your not careful.
I have only owned MudLites, Mud Bugs, and Silverbacks.
KawieRider, not sure if you know this or not but there's now a difference between Zilla's and MudZilla's. The Zilla's are an A/T type tire.
