fram filters are made with cardboard end caps inside the filters that have been known to break down and cause the oil filter to do absolutly nothing, and in some cases, the cardboard particales plug the oil pump or oil gallerys in the engine.. they are an extremly terrible filter IMO
you can usually buy a much higher quality oil filter from napa, purolator, wix or less than the frams also.

I am sorry wildman but I heard the same thing. Fram was always a trusted brand for me too untill those reports. You can just spin it off and another one on and just add a little oil. I use and like the best the Purolator pur-One. Its even a little longer then stock. I also liked the Kawi, K&N & Napa. I didn't like the Mobile1 .

Along with Amsoil engine, gear, and ATF oils, I also use their EAO oil filters on my truck, Brute, and ZX-10R. Nice thing, the Brute and ZX-10R take the same filter. I also run the Amsoil EAA air filter on my truck.

Thanks for the info. i guess I'm gonna have to kiss FRAM goodbye. Time to change over the truck and wheelers before something happens.

I've been using Penzoil in everything for many years with no problems. like someone else said, I don't think it's so much the brand of oil but the frequency of maintenance.
I used fram filters on atvs' and street bikes for numerous years, also with no problems. After I heard the reports I stopped using them on my toys. I've got the purolator filters on everything now because they are a little longer and hold a little more oil. I still use fram filters on my trucks and cars.
