I run 27" Bighorns and have no problems. No lift - just aftermarket wheels. The Brute has PLENTY of power for them.

I ride 29.5 Laws without a lift and aftermarket rims and a friend of mine runs 29.5's on stock rims without a lift.

the only place you may have an issue is rubbing the tank guard. mine would rub a little when it packed with mud or rocks and bulged out a little. i put a couple of big zip ties around the tank guard to keep it from bulging out.
i have to keep stock width or at least less than 50". some of the places i ride have very solid posts exactly 50" apart at the trailheads to exclude wider vehicles from trails they could damage.
this pic is 27" Bighorns on stock wheels.

You'll love the Horns for your riding. They were great in West Virginia for me. Here's a pic of 27" horns on aftermarket wheels - 50.25" outside to outside
