BIGHORNS ON 2005 BF650 SRA
Hey guys,
I am looking to purchase the Maxxis Bighorns for my atv soon. I want to put 26x9x12 on the front and 26x12x12 on the rear. My only concern is that the back right tire will rub on my fuel tank. I intend on mounting the tires on my stock rims. Is there enough clearance? Thanks for the help.

if you wanna get a little more cleareance moose has a 1.5 to 2" lift for like 75.00 you could clear easy.

I used to run Mudlite XLs, 26x12x12, on the rear of my Prairie 650 and never had a rubbing problem. With the exception of the body plastic, our quads are identical. You should be fine.

I think they will work on an SRA. I'd give it a try, worse case scenario is you have to get spacers ($75-100), still cheaper than new rims.

Not sure what to do???
Thanks for the replies. I am still looking into my options when it comes tires and rims but I am pretty sure that I am going to get Bighorns unless someone can convince me otherwise??? ( Maybe Bighorns 2.0's 26x912 & 26x11x12 ??) Would you guys recommend getting 1" spacers or going with 2+5 rear wheels and 3+4 fronts? I have concerns with this wide setup, Is this going to destroy my spindle bearings with these larger tires with offset rims or Bighorns on stock wheels with spacers? Thanks for the help guys!!!

You do not need offset rims, or spacers. 26x11x12 on the rear, and 26x9x12 on the front, will fit on you stock rims and you should have no clearance issues.

Just some thoughts and opinions. On all wheels, the first number is the amount of distance fron the mounting surface to the inside, and the second number is from that surfface to the outside. Note that the mounting surface most often is not in the center of the rim. There is another metric number that is associated with the distance fron the center. OK, on to more important things. The stresses on the wheel bearings are far greater when the second number is higher then the first meaning the candlever effect on the bearing. This is meaningless for the rear bearings of an SRA but not the front. I would never buy rims with the first number smaller unless the spindle is a 2-bearing and the OE setup requires it. No brute is or does that I am aware of with the exception of the SRA I believe. I went from 4+3s to 5+3s all the way around and 26x11x14s on all four because I wanted first, a streight footprint. It was a little risky putting 11's on the front but I did test it with my previous 27x11s and it did work. Love it...except in tight rocky & rutty trails. If it wasn't for my stabilizer...I'd be getting a set of 10s or 8s for the front. Lots of bump-steer. On the open and climbing...watch out! its in-your-face traction in 4wd and there is no tippy feeling powersliding.
Ok, If it were me, and I was going to do a set of rims, I would get both sets the same with the same offset. That offset would be greater to the inside say 4+3 unless your SRA can't take it, and if I did need spacers, then all four would get them and it still wouldn't be too hard on the bearings. But I'll almost bet you won't need any, in fact, if you just put those bighorns on the stock rims, you will be just fine. By the way, the bighorns are a great tire. Either the original or the 2.0s.
If you want to see what 11" tires on 8" rims with 5"s to the inside looks like, here a walkaround video of mine the day I put them on. You can stop it anywhere to see how close it get to things. Nothing has ever rubbed yet and I have put it through its passes.

The Big Horn 2.0 is also an excellent tire. They are lighter and ride smoother than regular Big Horns

Getting closer to purchase!!
NMKAWIERIDER, thanks for the great intel! What i'm going to do tonight is take of my back spring off and measure the clearance I will have between the fuel tank and my 25x10x12 mudlite xl's. If i have an inch of space I should be golden, if not I will look into spacers from HIGHLIFTER (ssatvplus.com).
If I choose to go with spacers should I put them on all four corners or just the rears? I have been browsing around the site and I read some only put them on the back some both front and back.......
So no to 2+5 rear rims and 4+3 front rims?
Do any of you guys know anyone who is running a setup that I am looking into?
BIGHORN ORIGINALS OR BIGHORN 2.0's ??????????????????? I live in MI so I ride in all condition except rocks.
Thanks for the help guys, I really appreciate it!
