No lift necessary w/27s. As for springs...depends on how you ride. Don't have to, but probably will want to. At least an EPI Maroon primary. And a little stiffer secondary. I do a lot of steep sandy hill climbing which requires me to use high range for the volosity. I was using the EPI Red, but lost a lot of top end so after doing some homework I wend with the Dalton Violet. Now I have exactly what I need. There are many different combinations to tune your clutch to exactly how you want it. It may take some time, but the springs are cheap and you can always sell the ones you don't want on a web site. Check the Brute Tech section for a spring chart. I believe there is still one there.

Oh..that's right...forgot about that..Thanks GP. Haven't heard about any issues with 27s and the struts. I wonder why they didn't use the struts on the 750s?

I have ss112 14" wheels with 27" swamp lites. Do not like the combination too much. I mean they are 500 percent better than stock but I have ridden better combinations on our bikes. IMO the mudlite xtr's are the way to go. We all run the 14" wheels on our bikes and like the handling characteristics of them better cause there is not so much sidewall flex as in the 12" wheels. We do mostly muddy trail and mud riding and occasional deep water riding.

My opinion is if you are going over 26" and you plan on doing some fast trails riding, you will like the 14" rim much better. On the other hand, 27s on 12s mean more air, and floatation in water and mud if that's your style.

I have had 27"XTRs on 14" rims now for the better part of 2000 miles, and I can safely say, these are the best tire for my riding I have ever had...and they are radials...and there is still 94% of the tread left!. Yes, a bit more then the others, but... these have NEVER left me needing help out of something. To me...that's worth it. I'd rather be the one doing the pulling then the one being pulled....

I do agree. my buddies bike (the one I just sunk) has the XTR's on it and it will walk circles around mine (swamplites) in the mud....

ok called today and got some other pricing on other packages, the one i liked the best was the 14"ss108 with the 27" xtr's for just over a grand, but it recommends spacers, do i need them with the 14" wheels over the 12 in due to the offset?/

and how much will it dog out the machine going to the 27 on a 14" wheel?

i am kinda leaning towards the mudlite xl 27x 12 wheel as its in the budget..

Part of the issue with ITP is they use a 5+2 12 " and a 5+3 14". That 5 inches to the inside might be a problem with 27s although My vissions are their 14s, they are centerline as in 4+4 and with my 27x11 XTRs, I have about 1 3/4" clearance between the tire and the tank when the shocks are bottomed out. More then 2" from the muffler on the other side. I would guess the ITPs would be an inch closer.
I think I have a shot of it somewhere.... here's one when they were new.
