Opinions for my Brute 650i
I want to stick with 12 inch rims (aftermarket of course).
My stock tires measure 7 wide 23.5 tall fronts and 9 wide 23.5 tall rears
I would like to get 27inch tires but I hear that the 'fun' factor kinda goes away.
The terracrosses, but they dont come in 27", appeal to me, I was thinking bighorns but I do not think that the tread pattern would fit my needs.
My ideal size would be 9" fronts with 11" rears
Trail riding with deep ruts, light mud, sand, gravel and a fair amount of road to get to the trails.
I like pulling wheelies and taking jumps (small).
oh yeah I definately want radials, side bite is important to me because of the ruts and mud. I will be riding in the snow, but I hope to get tracks next year.
thanks guys
also if you don't mind can you explain why or...? for your opinions, thx

I know you like to have 27. I would get the terracross 26x12. For the type of riding you do. The one thing I found out about the terracross is they are not that good in deep mud. I get stuck a lot it seems. Some of the medows here have deep mud. Thats just me. The bighorns are made for the same kind of riding.

I run 27" XTRs and they fit your bill completely except the road travel....not bad but they do wobble a bit at higher speeds. And truthfully, If I had it to do again I would get the 26". These 27s are very heavy. I do like the 14" rims with the 27s though. They are great with the softer stuff and have great side-grip. The radial design gives a great ride while the longer foot print makes it climb & grab like its on little tracks. They can trench-in very fast though if not watching. They are ok on rock and hard pack but a trail tire would be better on that stuff. The only complaint I have is that they are taking me forever to ware out. Almost 2000 miles on them now and still 3/4 of the original tread is left on the back...and almost still have the tits on the front.

Well, thinking it over, maybe the 26's would be the best bet. Bighorns 2.0 or terras xds. I think the terras are gonna be slightly better in mud, and bighorns better on the road.
Do the bighorn 2.0 do that bad in mud?? How do they do on loose to muddy climbs? or coming out of ruts that might be slick or muddy. I am not talking goopy or peanut butter, sometimes a little muskeg. Just the general gamit of trail conditions

Take a look at 26" Dirt Commanders. I switched from a swamplite to these and never looked back. Great tire for all the terrain you are looking at.

I was thinking of them next. In 26x14 and they are 8 ply. There is a peace on them in Dec.09 Dirt Wheels.

14" s though? Wouldn't it be better to have as much rubber between the ground and bike as possible? If you air them down to get a bigger footprint there is basically no rubber there now....
I have looked at the Dirt Comanders, but they are not a radial.
I think Bighorn 2.0 or Terracross xd are they way I will go on a nice set of black wheels. My bike is completely black, I even took all the stickers off.
I looked at Grim reapers, but they only come in 12" rears and I think that they are to big for my application. Sparticus maybe, but again I think that they are a 12" rear.
I am just worried about the mud I will encounter with the Bighorn 2.0. I would think that the 2.0 are better mud tires than the original?....
Thanks for the replies though guys, keep them coming if you don't mind

I never had a complaint with my XTR's on high speed road riding. they were awesome in snow, awesome in the mud we have here, great in the loose stuff. only problem i had with the xtr's was to many flats.
