Offset numbers are from the outside flat surface of the hub to the inside first then to the outside. So something that says it has the offset of 5+2 means that this is a 7" wide rim with five inches to the inside of the hub and two inches to the outside. Vision uses a different system, but uses a back-set(BS) number that tells the offset to the inside. Looks like per the ITP wheel charts that they like to put the big number inside and the little outside on the Brutes. Most of the rims out there are 7" so you can have any offset you want as long as it does not exceed 5" to the inside but remember the more you stick outside, the wider the machine is. Looks like 5+2 is used a lot with ITP as well as 4+3. I might like the 4+3 as it makes it a bit wider and more stable. I selected Vision wheels because they make an 8" rim in a 14". I forget but I think these are centered at 4+4. Anyway, for bearing life, try to keep it centered or the larger number first....if you can.
Hope that helped.

My Brute has 26-12-12 Swamplites on ITP SS108 wheels on the rear and 26-9-12 on the front. The wheels are 5-2 for front and rear. Anyway, I have no problems with tire to tank interferance.

Went with 26-10-12's on the rear. Gonna use the stock rims. Would have liked to gone w/aftermarket aluminum wheels and 26-12-12's, but just don't have the cash. Can't wait ant longer, as the stock tires are bald/worn out. They also have been half- assed repaired in the past and wont hold air for more than a few hours. Getting new tires mounted this afternoon, and looking forward to a day of riding on Sunday. Thanks for the input/help.
