hey u guys my brute went back to the shop today they guy felt around and thinks its a blown head gasket bc of the fact he put an after-market gasket in the back of some problems that went on with the rebuild process. i am like 3 diff kinds of pissed right now. but i never knew a head gasket would make it knock

As of now ya bc he thinks it's the gasket. But they also think that it's a rod bearing maybe. Can a head gasket make it knock? And if so why? Plus if the gasket went out can that effect if the rod bearings went bad?

To be honest, a blown head gasket has no effect on the rod bearing...unless it let water/coolant into the oil which gets pumped through the rod bearing. Then..its gone. Does a blown head gasket make a knocking sound? HMmmm...not usualy. But if its letting coolant into the cylinder...it can make several different sounds and some might sound line a knocking. Near hydrolocking sounds very much like a rod. Probably because most of the sound is the two surfaces...the bearing and crank...impacting each other.

my buddy put a bore kit is his 07 brute the same time i was rebuilding mine he did a 840 but any way he rode it at buscho beach and when he came back it was makeing a wierd noise i wouldnt say it sounded like knockin but he took it to the guy that built it and the guy said with the bore th wall were thiner and cuases it to over heat quick and he also didnt hook up the thermaste wire that says it over heating so baisically the guy has to rebuild it completly for free but my bud siad he is going to sell it because the run pretty warm alredy with out the bore kit so he is getting another one.

well i found out the guy didnt change anything in the bottom end so im pissed and hes not fixin it! so i brought it to clint olson of quality atv in mississippi. they have the soggy bottom boys. so hopefully next week we find out what will happin. i do know that the piston was hitting the head so either a bent connecting rod or bad bearing hopefully i can just change out the bearing and be done with it but anything else i wont be running mud fest.
