Default Fuel pumps burining up.

Hi my name is peedy. I have a 09 750 Brute Force NRA edition. It just turned a year old and i have already had 4 fuel pumps and i have to put another one in now. Found the problem which is a pick up line under the seat keeps sucking mud and dirt into it. Was wondering if anyone has snorkeled or relocated it and if u have need some pointers. Thanks.

Are you referring to the gas check valve, it is a vacuum line, most call it a vent line, it runs through the frame and exits under the instrument Pod.
It is located under the rear Plastic near the gas tank filler neck.

Kawasaki has no longer agreed to cover it under warranty. So i am going to pick my brute up wednesday and buy the fuel pump and seal myself and install it. And yeah i was referring to the check valve under the seat. I will post pics as soon as i start to relocate it. I advise going ahead and fixing it before u go in the mud. Ive never had my brute over the back racks but it still has burnt up all these pumps.

Unless this is open, I don't understand how its getting in. Its a solid line from the tank to the pod through the frame. If the plastic check is broken or the line is disconnected somewhere...OK...but otherwise where is the problem in that vent line? Are you sure the top of your tanks isn't cracked or the assembly seal isn't missing? Gas cap's good...right? Are those guys flushing out the tank when installing a new pump? Probably not.

The problem may not be the Check valve causing this to happen, the gas check valve is a one way valve and the exit is under the POD, way above your water/mud level. It also exits out of the frame right at the gear shift linkage, check here for proper connection)
I have seen on other forums of a Factory caused problem with some of the pumps, small plastic chips plugging the fuel pump inner filter (this filter can be accessed but you must dissassemble the fuel pump completely), these chips are from drilling the holes in the gas tank to mount the fuel pump housing, these chips were not flushed out of the gas tanks( not all of the FI brutes suffer from this), those small chips get sucked into the fuel pump and clogg it and then the fuel pump reads as a faulty unit. Others have said they did not clean out the gas tank before fitting the new fuel pump and once again they would have a failed New pump in short order.
Something to look into before you blame it on the gas check valve.

If you have done the cleaning of the gas tank and you still feel the gas check valve is the problen then move the gas vent line from under the POD to inside of the POD housing, be sure to point the vent line down and away from any electrical connections. This gas check valve is suppose to let air into the gas tank but if it fails, then gas can escape and exit through the vent line.
Also, very important not to overfill the Brute gas tank, this is a sure way to make the gas check valve fail as the extra pressure (vapors) pushed against the gas check valve(made out of plastic) weakens and allows raw gas to escape through the gas vent line(Vacuum line). Once this gas check valve allows raw gas to exit through it, you will need to replace the check valve.

The dealership told me that they found mud and sand in the gas tank a few of the times and said they cleaned it. This last time they called kawasaki and asked about covering it again and they wanted a fuel sample from my tank. Results were sand in it. Dealership told me that it was the pickup line. Ive got a few friends that have had similar problems. Can ams are designed somewhat similar and my friend moved his line after the first fuel pump failure and hasnt had a problem in 2 years. Im picking my brute up wednesday if u know of a cheap kawasaki parts site is plz tell. Ive already found the pumps for around 470. let me know if u know somewhere cheaper.

Is there supposed to be a line that runs through the frame up to the pod cuz when i pulled the line out of the frame thats all the further mine went. It just plugs into the frame no connections or anything in the frame??

Mine is the same as muddmans, when i snorkeled i ran a line from the check valve up to the pod as a precaution. It occasionally belches gas up to the pod though.
