If I did get one, it would be an X because it has power stearing. My friends renegade is fast, but he is alot more tired than i am after a long ride. The stearing is very very stiff. But overall they are nasty machines. I am hoping we see a brute force 850 with power stearing sometime soon

A BF850/900 will be a heavy weight compared to the present 750.
That was my biggest beef with my 800 Outlander, it was 90 pounds heavier than my Brute, both were set-up the same but that extra 90 lbs can be felt when pushing it hard on these tight trails that I prefer to ride and ride them Fast. I found the steering to be too light on the Outlander, very poor shocks and the rear suspension design I didn't care for it at all. Thankfully I had the off-set ITP wheels and 26" tires on the Outlander, I'm sure if I was riding on the stock set-up I would of rolled the outlander on every ride, even with the aftermarket wheel/tire set-up, the Outlander still wanted to roll over when exiting a fast curve/turn on the trails, which meant I had to ride slower than what I could do with my Brute Force, the Outlander took the Fun out of my riding..
To be fair to the Outlander, I have read that the '10 Outlander handles the best over any year before but with my bad experience with my 07 Outlander 800 and the high price on the '10 Outlander, I am staying on my BF750.
The Outlander did get better mpg @ 24 but that is mainly because of the gearing, as the Outlander power is geared more in the mid-upper powerband.

All the more reason to keep the Kawie and maybe add some Elkas and a few ...more goodies. With these new 11" tires on 8" rims all the way around, I have not been able to get it to rock-up on two wheels ..yet. Trys to sling me off the seat first. A am afraid that if I ever do cast it hard enough to send it up, I might not catch it quick enough. Amazing what just squaring-up the footprint does. Now if I can just clean-up the ride. Thinking shocks and a custom swaybar.

A aftermarket Shock upgrade is really worth the investment and you don't need to buy New either. Shop around, you can find an excellent low price on used ELKAs or WORKS.
Get at least the ELKA pro race series or the WORKS triple rate's,this way you have all the fine tuning adjustments too.
I picked up a full set of the ELKAs race/sport series for $1000 (used), they listed @ $2500, these ELKAs have preload, rebound and compression. The Res'es are piggyback mounted. These ELKAs I have had 750 miles on them and look brand new. I already tested them, they are awesome.

I just have the little fella 650, but I get about 120 kms to a tank before I start to sweat. That's a mix of driving but mostly open trails.

That does it...I'm going to start looking for some used Elkas or Works. I'm ready for a ride upgrade.

Boy am I glad to hear that i'm not the only one getting crap for gas mileage. I'm lucky if i get 60 miles out of a tank of gas. i have a 09 efi with 26 swampers and clutching and thats it.now my little brother has a 09 750 bonestock and he gets way better gas mileage then me and he can kick my butt in a drag race. it's amazing how much weght those tires and wheels add.

Back in '06 with my 05BF750 and in the high rockies in Colorado, we got on a trail that required 4x4L the entire ride, I only got 9.7mpg-pull out the fuel pack.
