Ok, I was looking online for some CDI's, do I also need the Dynatek coil kit as well? seems like everyone on here never mentions anything about them.. So I might just order the Dynatek CDI rev box..
Yea it seemed weird to me as well that the previous owner did the K&N, Muzzy, and the other stuff and not the CDI..
If I get the CDI do I still need to down size the snorkel?
Not too many people do the coils..I guess not realy needed unless yours are getting weak. The Dynatek CDI adds 5 degrees of advance throughout the RPM range which makes it need just a little more gas, but not enough to make any main jet changes. Sme have had to go one up on the pilots and one notch lower on the needle or with the stock needles, shim up to .040, but that's it. I wouldn't think any snorkle change would be necessary. With that being said, I am not sure where your jetting is now, but there is a possibility that if you are already close to the lean-side, the CDI might make it worse and might need to make some slight main jet change in that case.
The coil kit is not necessary. It is for those guys looking to wring every last bit of performance out of the machine. If you are looking for another 10th of a second (actually probably less) in 300', go for it. It is supposedly a hotter spark, and I am sure that it does give better performance, I am just not sure that it is worth the bang for the buck. Maybe someone who has invested in the coils could chime in and let us know the real world benefits. I am curious as well.

Went through and cleaned the carbs last night and found two things..
There was some dirt in the primary jets on the back carb, the front seemed pretty clean but the jetting is a little weird..both the primary jets were the same, the back read K38S the K was a bubble letter like a name brand stamp..
And the secondary on the front carb was 146 while the rear carb had 140..
It might be right but from what ive read on here with Muzzy exhaust the two should be the same do to the equal length pipes..
And KAWIRIDER to answer the question you had.. it has been running rich... So I think im gonna leave the jets where they are for the time and order a CDI.. and see whee that takes me fuel wise
And again Thanks for all the info ..
Ill let ya know how it runs when I get a chance, This should have fixed the problem

The K38S jets are the pilots or slow circuts. They are 38s from the factory and supply fuel from idle to about 1600 rpm. They should be the same. They are the ones I suggested might have a problem. The others are the main jets and the rear from factory is larger, but you are right in that I did hear Muzzy suggests those be the same. If you are running rich, its probably because of the jetting...but...it is the rear that is supposed to be larger, NOT the front!!!!. Only one or two sizes. Having the front larger is WAY wrong!!! Might ask Muzzy what they suggest for your location...Be sure to tell them that you have a DJ kit and DJ Jets...and do it right a way before the rear cylinder gets damaged from overheating. Its possible. Especialy after you put in the new CDI.
I put a main jet cross-reference under Brute Technical if you need it.
Ok it might have been the rear carb.. i was just lookin at them i had them fliped over when i i was working on it..
But here's another update to an update.. went out this morning and still having the same problem with the popping down low..So found out that if i cover half the intake snorkel it runs like a bat outta hell.. so went to Lowe's and picked up a couple reducers down to 1.5", Took it out again and it runs great..
The question is.. Does this make the bike run leaner or richer, Either way its running great now..But i dont wanna damage the motor..

Its forcing it to run richer. A couple of reducers??? Did the previous owner install more then one air intake snorkle to the airbox?
No I needed a couple reducers to go from 2.5" down to 1.5", It was cheaper that way than buying the single reducer..
It has run strong up in the RPM's the whole time even before the reducers.. so does this mean I only need to up size my low speed jets 1 or 2 sizes

Man I don't even know because the airbox inlet is slightly larger then 2". 2" snorkles alone cause enough restruction to change jets. Now you say you have takes it down to 1.5".....Something is very wrong man. Its like running it with a choke on just to get it to run close to right. That poor guy is starving for fuel for some reason.
Yea thats what im saying.. well im gonna rush in a Dynatek and play with the jets this week, Ive gotta buddy that used to tune 4 wheelers and he has a ton of DJ jets..and ill get ahold of muzzy and see what they say i should be running..
Thank for the help.. ill let ya know the results later in the week
