I'm 57 next month, find my BF750 to fit me perfect.
Slap on a set of aftermarket wheels and a set of 26x9x12frts/26x11x12 rears, if you are into trail riding the Terra cross tire is excellent, a 6 ply radial. The aftermarket wheel has more off-set over the stock wheels and by jumping up to a 26" tire, you also gain more bite in the slightly wider tires over the stock 25" size.
I like the steering on the Brute, I too installed a steering stabilizer but the Gibson tube type, at $159 shipped, it is a blessing to have. These Stabilizers are easy to install, just order one for a Yamaha YFZ450.
The FI is nicer but is only on the Brute 750i(not the 650i), crisper acceleration, lighter thumb throttle, easier cold morning starts and decent mpg, anywhere from 16-20mpg on my 750, depending on my riding. Either Brand new Brute will be less mpg till you get around 300+ miles on the odometer and a couple of oil changes.
Ease of servicing on the Brutes are fast, takes me less than a hour to do the frt end dif/engine oil-filter/rear dif oils.
The Brute 750i also has revised shocks for '08 and the Brutes handle fast riding well. Even the Yamaha 550/700 will need the sway-bar bushing upgrade along with the Brutes, another easy upgrade and at $16, you be nuts not to do it.
4x4/4x2 works a bit different on the Brutes, no stopping is needed as long as you are under 7mph the Brutes will engage or disengage, a clunking sound is normal. The frt dif Lock is a varible unit, if adjusted correctly(in the owner's manual) it works great. If you don't care for the fact that you have to hold in the yellow lever for engagement of the dif-loc then just install a $40 PBR Penloc(push botton), Highlifter carries them.
No worry about flipping the Brute on a hillclimb if you snap the throttle, with the stock set-up tune wise, it will just power up the hill easy, not even breaking a sweat.
Another nice point on the 650's and up CC's, the power is there at 50+mph.
$6500 is too high for a 08 new 650i plus it only comes with a Standard 6 month Factory warranty, a 09 650i has a 12 month warranty, the 08BF750 did have the 12 month warranty but only on the 750 for 2008.
I paid $6900 OTD for my just purchased 2009 BF750i, check on www.atvtraderonline.com for dealers near you, this is how I found my '09 BF750's price by comparing the other offers.

Once you have owned and riidden the VTwin and the excellent Kawasaki Motors, you will never go back to a Thumper.

Funny you say that because I didn't start riding ATV's until when I bought this in January of 2008. I do have a KDX 200 but mostly a trail rider and most of the guys I have ever ridden with were always waiting on me and its not because of the bike so I went with 4 wheels and so did they.

All of the Brute Force 750s have a $800 Factory Rebate which really lowers the price, where the 650s only have a $350 Factory Rebate.
I saw a New Red 09BF750 at a CO dealer on atvtrader for $6049 but the 09BF650i was $6599.
On atvtrader most of the 650i's are the same price as a 750. Not all of the dealer price listings are lowered, their loss.

True! I'm almost 50 and been on bikes (dirt and street) since I was 12. Never been without one or more since. Rode every one of em like I stole em!

Yup, and I certenly didn't buy a Brute just to putt around easy trails. Bought it so I could do what others couldn't or was afeared to do, and raise my heart rate at times.... and it still does every time I twitch the thumb

Default Mud lid?

My biggest complaint about my brute was the stalling when splashing in water or mud. I picked up a mud lid which has worked out extremely well.

Please excuse my ignorance, but what is a mud lid?

once upon atime long ago honda might have been the best. i guess they were happy with that because they still build the same quad now. they are so far behind it's a joke. i still love my brute and the grizz is pretty good. at least look at a suzuki before a honda, and maybe just maybe even a polaris LOL

I love my mudlid! Been through water a lot deeper than I thought possible. Followed a couple brutes through a pond that had snorkles and as had no probs. Kept the frt end up and the hammer down.
