Are Exhaust Snorkels Necessary
Ok here is what I would like to know, I have snorkeled my Brute and am wondering if I really need to snorkel the exhaust. I have been told its a good idea and yet here of people doing water wheelies dipping them in the water. I also have heard they are not really necessary....So what do ya'll think?

As soon as the front end comes up your going to take a big gulp of water the Brute won't like.

I haven't ran one on any of my quads and I've been riding water for several years now. The exhaust snorkle isn't a bad idea for those who don't water wheelie.

I water wheelie my brute all the time and haven't sucked water into the engine like that before.

The exhaust doesn't suck air does it? So as long as the bike is running you don't have to worry. Correct me if I'm wrong. If you crank it under water the exhaust will suck in air and water wont it???? I'm no genius!!

Thats the way I understand it, as long as it doesnt die and if you dont try and restart while the muffler is submerged then you should be ok.

I've seen a few people with the aftermarket exhausts make an adapter that bolts to the end of the muffler with the extension turned up 90 degrees. Not sure how you would do it on a stocker.

Ya I think I have seen that, I have an hmf....I found a place called boss exhaust that makes exhaust snorkels designed to be taken on and off and made for both stock and aftermarked exhaust.

my exaust is not snorkled and I have had no problems, just keep your bike going and if it does die DONT CRANK IT UNTIL YOUR OUT OF THE WATER.
