Talk with Slumlord. The K&N and the stock filters is too close to the top to allow enough air to pass by. Slumlord fix it by going with the TwinAir system which gets it air all the way around including the top. Sorry man, no way around it.

Yes, its a lack of air! I didn't like the thought of rejetting when it was running excellent before the mudlid! You can rejet to get it right but you will have to go smaller on the jets. Less air and less gas means less power and go to me!! You can test your brute to see what I am talking about by popping the clamps on the mud lid and stick a pencil under the back end. that raises the back of the lid and lets more air in. It will run much better. I took off my mudlid and cut a sheet of 1/4" thick rubber and started playing with the opening I cut in the rubber. I started out exactley the same size of the mudlid entrance and then started cutting bigger and bigger. Made two cuts and then it quit making a difference. And still ran better with the lid cracked open with a pencil. That told me it was not the inlet size killing me. I took the aluminum mudlid off and just put the plastic airbox cover back on so I could see what the restriction was. The filter hold down plate almost blocks off the mudlid hole. I took off the hold down plate and used a zip tie to hold the top of my filter in place and not let dirt in. It ran much better but still not back to what I had. Then I found the TwinAir Power flow kit. This is sweet, a little high but excellent product. The filter rack fits up inside the filter which breaths from all around like K & N and stock but also straight from the top. More air flow!! All power is back and some! I'll tach some pics of my test lid, my old filter zip tied which worked well enough to ride until my Powerflow kit came in. My powerflow kit and anything else you may need to see. This is a good fix but like I said, a little high... I do love the mudlid and knowing where the mud and water level is at all times. Also love the waterproof prefilter so even If I accidentally dunk it, I am protected. The bike will die due to lack of air but not drown, I poured water into my mudlid and none got through. choked it down but none got in...

Slumlord is right on the money, Twin Air is the way to go with the EHS lid!
