Default How much top end speed loss with center snorkels?

So i have the bike all apart and ready to install my mains and pilots, and it is all ready for snorkels if i opted to add them. How much speed will i lose on top end roughly? I was going to do 165 front and rear, so what size if i added the snorkels? install the 165's and then pull the plugs to see how shes actin? I really need to know asap if possible how much top end speed you all lost after installing snorkels. Right now with the mains that are in it and the hmf pipe with the dynatek cdi, i am running rich. So what do i need to get and how should my setup be. Its a 07 650I for reference.Thanks.

ohh and one more thing, I will be doing the mimb snorkels.

You shouldn't lose any top end.* Are you using a 3'' inch or 2'' rubber 90 on the airbox?

you will have to jet down from were you are for the snorkles I don't know how much you lose but if you restrict air flow and have to use smaller jets and the dyno numbers are lower then logicaly speeaking you will lose some but how much its probelly diffrent for each machine. If you say lose 5 mph top speed but can hit the mud hole full throttle and not worry then a little loss isn't so bad for your peice of mind

Exactly my thoughts too.* Also, ...are you saying that with the stock jets, not the new 165s, you are already running rich? I don't remember you mentioning that in previous discussions.

yeas with the stock, i think we came up with 155's, i am running rich. I am about done putting on the snorkels, waitng for the paint to dry, then i will see how she runs and we'll go from there. I have flynt over on highlifter giving me a hand to. So we should have the beast alive in no time. :goofy:

If you are already rich with 155's, then 165's will be way too rich.* If you are rich, you need more air, not more fuel.

So, if he's already rich with the stock 155s and the HMF & CDI, what could be wrong? He should be way lean before the snorkles. Could be that his needles & seats on the float(s) are warn enough to raise the float levels way up, but too high and the would run over the overflow...what's that..about .080 higher then spec? Is he having that sticky-choke problem? Maybe bad plugged-up air filter?

I mentioned the floats because when mine was brand-spanking-new and on the very first day I took it out, the front float was so high...not enough to overflow..that when I was on it, it pulled enough fuel to actualy fowl the plug completely and drop out. Did it on the flats once, then once on a hill (not the place for that). Took it in and that was what they found.

I'm sure his will work out in time.*
