Can you just run the cvt snorkel only?
So i dont really want to snorkel the entire bike cause i dont want to kill my top end. I was wondering if you can just snorkel the cvt vent up to the pod like a ninja snorkel. Would it make it run different? And if* was to run the air box tube up inside the pod with the ninja style, what would i have to do with jetting? Will it still take my top end speed down? Thanks.

Re: Can you just run the cvt snorkel only?
The air intake for the CVT is on the right of the front of the airbox and the discharge is just under the seat, so if you are in deep enough water to get water in there, then the engine intake is also in danger. And it doesn't matter what type of snorkles you use, as long as there is ANY air restriction over the original design standards, there will be an effect. And it is almost impossible not to. A 3" or larger on the engine intake should provide the smallest change. Maybe not enough to rejet. Maybe... Remember, you are looking for what the engine flows at max RPM which should be 650ccs. That's at what..8500 RPM or so? If you know a good HVAC person, he/she can figure what size plumbing you would need to have non-restrictive 650cc airflow with the twists and turns you will be having. I know one and just for general information I will ask him to do the calcs for us.
I know 07galaxy650, this isn't realy helping. The bottom line is, if you want to take your bike underwater, there is always a price to pay. The goal is to pay the least amount..performance-wise...right?

No it is helping actually. I have them ran and we will see how it acts. I got the 3inch off the air boy and under the steering brace instead of around. It prolly wont work, but we'll see.

in theory at 8500 rpm on a 650 u could go as little as a 1.5inch and up.. if my math is right u only loose .0004 psi at that size with a length of 8 inches. now is that a lot of air loose or not i don't know. and of course its pretty general considering it not taking into account all the bends roughness. and soo on

I actually did the mimb snorkels and ended up just having to shim needles, other then that and some pilot adjustments everything is gravy.

what i would like to figure out is the flows of the cvt to snorkel them. i just did a can am 650 and there stock intake for the air box is a 1.5 pipe. and the intake cvt is 2 inch., and exhaust 1.5 inch... based on 50 reviews, no one is having problems yet... go figure.
