Default Snorkel and muzzy

Was wondering if any of you guys are running both Muzzy exhaust and snorkels? I hear it is very hard to jet the engine when running both. I ask this because I already Have my brute snorkeled and just bought a Muzzy exhaust. I'm a little scared about how hard it is going to be to dial the engine in. Any info would be very helpful.

Default Re: Snorkel and muzzy

So sounds like I need to just throw away the snorkel? The Muzzy and snorkel are on a 750 by the way. I sold it to my dad last summer and all he does with it is drag race and some trails not much. I dont see why he even needs the snokel. So your saying the 750 will be tons ez-er to jet without a snorkel?

It should be easier to rejet without the snorkel.* But jetting can be a b!t@h on some brutes anyway.* I'd say if he doesn't need the snorkel, go ahead and take it off.*

OK V guys. He is running a brute and if he is going to be in any mud or water at all he will need his snorkel set up.* :cuss:

A good starting point for you is 160 main jets 2 turns out on your air mix
and one washer shim under your stock needle.
you can also shorten your spring up a little to help with throttle response. I have to go to work or I would get into more detail for you.

High lifters web site has a lot of good info on jetting your brute properly with no power loss.

V guys please do not take offense to what I am about to say.* :peace:

The brute force will go lots of places that you will never be able to go with out destroying your V.
The air intake on a brute is in a really bad spot on the ATV and will take on water/mud/steam. all bad things for it.

Some of us brute guys have been doing this for a long time and know how to keep the power in our brutes.* Sorry just a Brute guy speaking out loud.* :dvl:
Talk to you all later.
Adam.

It doesn't matter if your adding a snorkle or exhaust or both jetting the brute is a pain, you have to pull the carbs everytime. If you are jetted correctly with the snorkles then as long as you have some diffrent jet sizes to play with you should be able to get it. Just be patient. I wasn't so I didn't finish my snorkle I got my hands on an EHS racing lid with gaurd on it blocked my front port. It works great, I did get a bad outerwares that wasn't water resistent and got some in my airbox nothing in the filter but it was still there. EHS sent me a new Outerwares and I ran it under the sink for about 15-20 seconds and it stayed dry. Just another option.

If his father is not running in mud or water at all, then he doesn't need the snorkel.* I agree that if he does ride in any mud or water, the the snorks need to stay, but he said that the brute is not ridden that way.* You don't see many drag brutes with snorks.* :peace:

LOL, I would sink like a stone in the sand dunes* :sh:
That would make for a good picture.
If he gives the base line I stated above a try* he will have a good starting point
I do have a couple more questions for him.
What style of snorkel do you have? What size PVC are you using on your intake?
Are there any other mods done that you did not mention that effect the motor?
Like VTPrairie stated above It will take a couple of tries to get it right.
Let us know how you make out.

But Adam you forgot to mention that you used a Dynojet kit the jet sizes run a little diffrent from the stock ones.So it depends what he is going to use for jets.

NO The only thing that I used out of the dynojet kit is the springs.
Witch you can shorten your self.
I have the stock jets in my brute.
160 front and rear.
I felt that the Needle was to short in that kit and just could not get it to run right.
So I but the stock needle back in. Then it was a peace of cake to jet. Just take your time. I will be jetting it here soon again. Once my cams get here.* :lalala:
