Default stubborn primary

I recently replace my stock clutch springs with a set from EPI. When I purchased these springs I also bought a clutch puller to make things easier and for future maitainence of the belt. Every thing was going smooth, my first time performing this task, untill I tried to remove the primary, holy smokes, no matter what I tried I could not get that sob to come off.
Is this normal? Whoever torqued that joker down(kaw)... must have been mad with somebody. I finally gave up on removing it and just replaced the spring where it sat. My problem is....It really needs to come off to help me tighten the belt/replace the belt when that time comes.....any suggestions as how to get it off? I know I'm not the only person who has run into this....

Were you having trouble getting bolt loose or clutch to pop off with the tool? The bolt loosens to the right if that was your problem. If just getting the clutch to pop off was it, then you may want to use a strong impact gun on it.

I have heard of poeple having this problem ever since I bought my brute, but fortunately I have never had a problem. I don't even have to have a clutch puller any more. The last two times I removed it, all I had to do was take the bolt out and crank over the engine and the primary just pops off. I wonder if something is wrong or if maybe I am just lucky.

No I got the bolt out, I did do a little homework before trying it....for once.....Just couldn't get the primary to break free. I was scared to wrench on it too much....I have a tendency to break things.

You deffinately have an issue, it could be you are not tightening it enough or you have tightened it too much and stretched the taper on the clutch. Take close look at your tapers on your shaft and in the clutch. You should be able to tell where the contact is being made, make sure it even.

Go ahead and get the puller good and tight, really tight. Then hit the end of the puller with a hammer, this may pop it free. Or like BMK said, lube it up and use an impact. It will sound like someting broke when it does come off.

Yes, I had to screw the puller in by hand and then tap on it with an impact wrench to make it pop out. It does make some noise, just make sure you dont cross thread the puller!!
