Dynatek Popping
Ok guys i have an 07 Brute Force 750. The only mod i have on it are the snorkels, i installed a dynatek fs plug n play module. When i start it up it runs fine at idle, when i give it about quarter throttle it starts popping like crazy. Any advice on this? Could my module be faulty? I keep hearing about jetting, is there any other fix? Thanks

Did you run the bike with the snorkels and the stock cdi? Was it OK then?
The only way to cover the issue up is through jetting. Good luck, you will chase your tail and might hit the right combo. IMO, If you really want to fix this issue, sell it and put the money towards a VDI cdi.

I put a Dynatek on my 06 BF750. It, too, popped a little--if we're talking about the same thing--at about 1/4 throttle. I call it more of a stutter or stumble, but it may be the same thing.
Anyway, after talking around someone suggested putting octane boost in the gas to see if it helps. It does. Problem gone. I now run premium all the time and very seldom hear the stumble. I carry a bottle of boost with me in case I can't get high enough octane on the trails.
Don't know why it worked or if its the same problem--but it fixed whatever was wrong with mine and it costs just about nothing to try it.

Do your pipes glow? You may just be dumping unburnt gas into your exhaust. Higher octane slows the burn rate of the gas, especially with the lower compression of the 750s.

Yes, i was running the snorkels with the stock cdi, it runs great. The dynatek is a different story. It does sound like a stutter or stumble. I'm scared to leave it in, sounds like i'm going to damage something. I also have ran 93 octane since i got the bike.

Ok guys, I asked the question why all the problems with the Dyna module to Lyle at VDI. Here are his responces.
The problem isn't with the Dyna CDI, it's with them not developing a CDI for the BF650i/BF750i. Kawi changed the reluctor input location, and made it longer durantion. When you run a Dyna on the 650i/750i, it runs around 7 degrees retarded throughout the midband, and hence the nasty miss. We had to recalibrate the unit to run properly on the BF. Completely baffles me why Dyna didn't fix it (I suppose now it's too late, or they'd have a million guys wanting them exchanged).
Lyle
Dyna claims it's a lean issue, but I've never talked to anyone that could tune it out with mucking with the carbs. Basically, there isn't enough advance to ensure the mixture is fully burnt.
I asked about which bikes will have the problem.
Nope, the BF650-SRA, P650/P700 (Suzuki Twin peaks 700/Arctic Cat 650 Vtwin), V700 all use the same CDI (and Dyna will work on it). It's just the BF750i and BF650i that have the "new" input. Not sure why they (Kawi) bothered, but there was obviously some magical reason or roadblock they were trying to accomplish by doing that.
Lyle

No, pipes don't seem to be any hotter'n before--and I'd feel it on my left leg where the pipe is exposed under the plastic. It does backfire once in awhile--indicating raw gas in the pipe--but no worse than before putting in the Dynatec.
I've heard of a lot of problems with the stutter--got the Dynatec used from a guy that couldn't get his to quit stuttering. Don't know why I don't have a problem with premium gas, but I don't.

Running jets that small would defiinitely get rid of the popping. Have you ever had it dynoed and had the A/F ratio checked? Just curious what you are running. I see you have a FCP motor, how do you like it? I here they do very good work and produce a ton of horsepower. Overall, a very nice loking ride.
