08 Brute Sucking Water In
Hi there,
I was wondering if anybody has had any problems with the 08 Brute Force 750 FI with sucking water in? I was going through 2-2.5 Feet of water and the air filter box was full of water and i was losing power. I went through 3 holes of water this deep and i had to stop twice to clean the water out and dry the filter. Is there a problem with the 08's or do i just need to put a snorkel kit on if i go through water like that?

There has been an issue with all Brutes and the curved deflector that sits in front of the airbox and its deflector. Water is thrown over the front deflector and it rolls right around the airbox deflector right into the intake. Happens with snow too. There are a few easy fixes though. There is a post here about installing an additional rubber flap that stops that.Or you could just go slower so there is no wave under the front plastics. If you will be going in deep stuff though, might consider a 3" snorkle.

Or get a mud lid like I did. Now my Brute breaths on top of the air filter. NO more splashing choke downs from water in front and under. Its got to be up to my waist to get wet now and there is a water proof prescreen under the mudlid. Pretty coollio...

My brute is carbed and I had to change the air filter system around to get it breathing right. But all the EFI ones said they had no problem. Popped it on and took off riding... I love mine...
