It is easy to forget to check the little things for wear and tear. The buddy who bought my 05BF750 had my upgraded DiamondG tie-rods and HD hemi-tie rod ends, the ends lasted 3000 miles before the right outer end broked but when it let loose it took the Steering Knucke mount with it. Luckily he was able to still drive it and get it back in close enough to have it trailered back into town.
I try to stress on my friends to do this maintence of your atv yourselfs instead of a dealer, someone else changing oils for you will not take the time to check your atv over, at least they don't here. Anyway, I always do my maintence myself, this way I know it is done right and if other parts are showing signs of wear.

Well....not sure I'l go that far...but I agree. Being an old Honda Machanic, Mine was loaded-up at the dealer when I bought it and never been back. Mostly because I know what goes on in the shop...mine aint going back there.

You may want to post "What goes on in in the shop", a wake-up for others who believe the dearership service departments are the place to go for servicing.

Mine has been at the stealership once since august 2007 when I bought it...they put a rear oil seal in it under warrenty. I do all my own maintance on the quad, and truck, including building the 355ci thats in my truck now. Makes you appreciate things alot more when you know exactly how much work goes into something.

Well, I wouldn't want to damage sales, but if you think your machine is always worked on by a certified mechanic, think again. It might be overseen by one but more often its done by the minimum-wage kid who hasn't a clue yet and who does not care about your pride and joy. Without going into lots of detale, your machine won't always be taken care of by the book, there are many shortcuts shops use to get it out and into billing. Many shops will also replace complete subassemblies instead of just the one bad part because it takes too much time. I guess in short, most of the service that your machine normaly needs is better done by you and a full service manual.
Back in 1984, after I ended my employement with Honda I did buy a new 700 Magna from my own store and when it was time to have the valves done per the warrenty, like a good boy I took it in...to my old shop...and they knew it was mine. When I picked it up I tell something was wrong. Drove it home and pulled the covers to fund that yes, 4 intakes were too tight and to of those were so much that they were leaking. I was more then POed. Vowed never to take anything back to a shop again unless I couldn't help it. So when I picked up my new Brute back in 2005 I told this story to my salesman. He reminded me of the warrenty requirements. I just said.."Gee...that's too bad"

Warranty requirements, beginnning to sound like a Canned Ham Dealer.
One good thing about Kawasaki is the fact that you do not have to take it to the Dealer for that 1st service or any service. But, if you are using aftermarket stuff and you feel you have a Warranty issue, then I would put it back to Stock, as some Stealers are picky on the aftermarket goodies, where other Honest Dealers will do the right thing. I'm not talking a blown engine here but other things that are minor and wear out/or fail in a short time.

Not once have I ever broken or bent a Stock tie-rod on a BF like others have done. Now I do ride fast on the trails but no mud bogging or oversized tires, other's have claimed that I am abusive to my quads, if that was so, then why haven't I ever busted anything.
What am I doing Wrong?

I don't know but even I when I had my 27" XTRs on Vision rims took several impacts that others say should have bent the stock tierods but didn't. I did replace them with Diamond Gs because the ends were getting loose, but I still wonder how this happens to so many....and how much it would hurt!!...lol

I never took out a tie rod but the ends were absolute junk. I went through three sets before going to ASR's Never had a problem since. Even when I wrecked and cracked my right a arm the tie rod held in place. I have never had an issue wit heim joint either. Very happy.
