Default Brakes, which is the best

so i got about 3500miles on the old brute and was having a look at my front pads got about 3 to 4 mm left. the OEM seem to fair pretty well...

should i get OEM or EBC?

i am looking at the EBC sever duty and the sintered pads

i want performance over price for sure... id rather stop a little quicker or the same then try and get my every last cent out of the pads.

no one has really done any reviews that i can see.

That's pretty good miles out of the OEMs. Have not heard any complaints on the EBCs. I'm at 2400 miles and still have most of mine left. Go for the EBCs and let us know if they stop better...

If you are in snow and moisture a lot, maybe try the servier duty, although they might be a harder material and might last longer but might not make the same friction level as the others. Still, should be the last set your Brute will have to have....

Oh and i can inform you that after 15000 i had a rebuild of the rear brakes.I changed all the friction discs, all 7 of them.It was a necessity though because i had no rear brake at all or handbrake plus the cabble of the handbrake snapped....
It was a difficult job to do provided that i had to remove all the rear plastics, the tank, the wheels, the axles and after the diff....after,the installing was easy, you put them as you see them but tearing it apart and putting it back together was a 4 hour job....at least.......now i have brake again!!!!!!!!!!!!!

see that is exactly what i was talking about!!! glad you understand, i have the same theory too its like car tires yes the tires last forever but the rubber is super hard less traction. that is why im hesitant to get the long lasting ones cuz they will be a harder material. 3500 out of oem is definably money well spent in my eyes.. i dunno i think i might bight the bullet this week and order some sever duty. or sintered..... or they even have carbon types.... choices choices choices

and yes i live on the WET coast, so not alot of snow but lots of wet trails and mud and STEEP grades for sure

The other thought would be what material is compatable with the disk materials. I know some harder pads on older types of disk steel is a NoNo. Maybe not worth the risk. The OEMs proved to be good for lots of miles and still have good disks..I assume..

I use the mid grade ebc brakes and find the sand +mud brakes them down too quickly. I replace mine twice a year which seems excessive considering I rarely use them. Next time I will be going with heavy duty ebc.
