650I Muzzy Jetting Help
Hi guys,
I'm just about to order a Muzzy and a DynoJet kit for my 07 650I. I have never rejetted anything in my life. Is there a "How To" somewhere on this forum or could someone tell me what's basically involved in this process. I'm capable of doing service on my pickup, changing breaks etc, so I think this can't be that bad! I look forward to your responses. And this site ROCKS!!!!!!!!!

Not too hard. Just a lot of parts to get off and put back on. Basicly,
pull the side plastics and airbox. I pull the battery and case too. Disconnect the wires and fuel lines from the carbs. Loosen the top boot clamps and rock the carbs out as an assembly. Stuff rags in the ports. Carfully roll the carbs upside down over the ports leaving the cables intact. Use the phillips screwdriver that comes with your kit as it is a metric taper and remove the bowl screws. Remove bowls. The main jet is the larger one in the center of the fueling posts. Replace and reassemble.

Also I beleive with the dynojet kit you need to make sure when you install their needle and spring, that you dont cover up the vacumm hole. I think some clip one of the feet off the spring seat to avoid this.
There is instructions in the dynojet kit on the jet sizes with aftermarket exhaust

On the leg, I filed it back on an angle so it still touched but left the front side open over the hole.

Just take your time...watch your parts. Personaly I wouldn't do the DJ kit. I removed mine...except for the hole it had me drill in the slide. Too nurvious on the trails and jumpy for me...not to mention reducing gas milage by 2mph. But that's just my experience. Not everyones is the same.

I think you will find most of us around here prefer just jetting correctly and shimming the stock needles if needed. VFJ, a performance builder we relay on for insight, does not recommend the Dynojet kit. Says he gets better Dyno-results without them and with setting the carbs correctly....so we kinda go with that. Others however...live and sware by the Dynojet kits. These are people that mostly pin there machines at high RPMs for race or need WOT power on deep mud. If this is your style, then the kit is for you. If not, then...well... take a different path.
There is no other kit out there that I know of besides Dynojet

ok, I hear you. You seem to know your stuff! I was thinking I could just buy some jets and change them around but when I started surfing the web, everyone kept on reffering to the Dynojet kit. I will order the pipe from Brute Man Kelly and worry about the jetting once it's installed.
