Default carb mixture screw

ok guys i just jetted my carbs out today but on the directions it says the mixture screw is right above the float it looks like it should be there but were it says it should be there is a silver plate looking thing. is that a cover kinda deal and does it just pop off? what do you guys think?

Yes, they are like thin baby freeze plugs. Just drill a small hole in the center, tap a sheetmetel screw in just a little and pry-out. Set the screws between 2.25 and 2.75 turns. Usualy 2.5 is just fine. Remember, these a/f screws just sets the idle mixture...nothing else.

That's it, the silver plug is the factory plug so you can't adjust it. All you need to do is carefully drill a small hole in it and pry it out with an awl or something similar. When drilling, be extremely careful not to go in to far as you will start drilling the mixture screw. Use very light pressure to drill it.

i just did it guys thanks alot yall are a life saver but if i have a aftermarket cam high compression pistions and dual exaust do you think it will be right with 150 front and 155 rear?

I drilled mine to deep and screwed up one of my mixture screws. ended up having tot ake it out and cut a new slot in it for my screw driver LOL

After you get it adjusted, you might want to put a dab of silicone over the screw to keep it from vibrating out.

It will be different. You may even want larger carbs.
