Air filter maintenance
I have to admit,,ive never really been one to clean my air filter. Im always up on my oil changes but seem to neglect my air filter. What is the best way to do so? Am i suppost to oil it? (Im running a stock airfilter) If so how what lube do you recommend? How come the filter isnt oiled from the factory?

Trev that filter better be oiled from the factory or it will let dirt through.
You should...need to use foam filter oil, which isn't like motor oil at all, in fact it takes a special solvent to desolve it for cleaning. DelRay, No-Toil, Fab-1, PJ1 & FFT are all reconnized top quality foam filter oils. UniFilter and TwinAir have their own too. All work with foam filter and all need their own special solvents to clean them. I use No-Toil, but I might be switching to Fab-1 because of the reviews. When you do, don't be cheap. You have to saturate the filter, work it through, and be able to squeeze a little out. Let it dry before putting it back in, and use either rubber gloves of put it in a zip-loc bag and work it through. That stuff is nasty and you will need the special solvents to get it off your hands.
Here is a link to a place that sells all of them.

When ever its needs it.......Ok, that's a little vaque...depends on your riding. I have gone hundreds of miles without servicing it, and once only one ride. Just take a look once in a while, when you see the dirt building up on the surface...and you can rub your finger on it and it leaves a mark, its time. Of course if you see your gas milage falling off or loss of power...that's a sign too.
So, if you ride behind people a lot, you will need to service it way more...so stay out in front...as it should be ..hehe Let them eat the dust.

I been using twinair-oil for yrs, as I use the Twin-air filter as my main air-filter and the stock filter as a back up.

the stock filters from the dealer are actually quite cheap (here atleast) They come pre-oiled in a sealed bag. Its not a bad Idea to pick up 3 or 4 of them, keep one at home, and bring a couple with you just incase.

Well,,I attempted to clean my air filter tonight,,,but ended up destroying my stock filter! I used lacour to clean my filter and I guess that was the wrong product to use. My filter swelled up and the glue that holds the filter together separated!! Now,,,what do you guys and gals recommend me upgrading to?

Yeah...I'm sure that did it. If just oil in it, then soapy water, if any of the official foam filter oils, use their solvents.
I just replaced my K&N with a Twinair OEM replacement. About 35 bucks us. The stock from the dealer might be less. Unifilter makes a good OEM replacement too. If you have about 345 bucks, the Twinair powerflow is a good investment.
