I do. I think many around here do too. As long as you don't get any poping back through the carbs, you should be Ok. Flow is increased without it.

You are talking about the thin metal plate that covers the throats to the carbs? Yes, I pulled that out also! No screen plate. That much less air restriction.

im running a twin air replacement filter ... if you running K&N a pre filter IS A MUST!!!!!. if you don't they will suck dust in.
i don't know if i have any power gains due to my 2 inch snorkle

2" snorkle on mine sucked the power out of it. very very restrictive!

Yes it would, and for us carbed guys, it means a jet change. Do a 3"...and you won't notice anything. The outlet is about 2.25 so a 2" alone is downsizing, then add 90s and man..you are choking. The 2.25 pipe is fine until you add 90s. The 2.5" probably be fine but close if not a little restrictive at WOT.

K&N is a great filter for RACING only! When you need the most air flow..
TwinAir are cheaper and work great for any application where racing to win is not the primary objective.
Keep your stock or TwinAir clean at all times.. Also make sure you let your newly oiled filter sit in open air for a day before you run your machine, you have to let the carrier agent(the chemical used to keep the oil thin so you can apply it on the foam) time to evaporate or your machine will run very poorly..
