Belt
Hi guys, I have a 2005 750i brute force and i am having problems with the belt light. It only has 51 hours on it and 250miles. When i get on the throttle the belt light will come on and i have to reset it. It does not do this all the time just once and a while. also when i put it in gear i can hear the belt squeel a little but as soon as i hit the gas it goes away and also does not make noise when in neutral. ?? i removed the belt and have a new one on order because i thought maybe the belt was to loose. Any ideas? Thanks for the help.

Welcome Tulk. Glad to have you with us. I have heard this story several times over the years and its always been some bad connector or conniction or eben somethin wrong with the inside of the switch. See, if that circut breaks connection even for s split second, the computer trips the warning light on. So check all the connections between the switch to the CDI. You could do what many of us did, put a dynatek CDI in. Good increase in power and no more belt warning or reverse limitor.
The belt sqeel is from it being at or under 22mms deflection. If its just sometimes, don't worry about it, the belt will stretch in time. But if its trying crawl in gear or hard to get in gear, its under 20mm, Better get it back between 22-27mms

The book says you are not supposed to roll on and off the belts as it may cause damage to the belt or the clutches. Supposed to remove both and install both at the same time. There are some people that do roll their belts, and get away with it but many more that ..well.. lets say they wish that has bought the prinary puller. A warped shive means a new clutch...not cheap. As a Brute owner, I think its safe to say that a primary puller and a secondary spring compressor are two of the "Must Have" tools you should have in your box. I have used mine way more then I ever thought I would and am so glad I did buy them. I got mine from EPI but others have them too.
As for the Dynatek, here is a link to their web site.

You could try ebay and some of the kawie forums or on here in the for sale or wanted sections.
I got mine from a kijiji listing. The K/N and dyna cdi for $150.00, hell of a deal...

What was the deflection? It has to be between 22 and 27mms. No less then 22 and even at that it will squeel a little. You will have to add or remove shims in the driven or better known as the secondary clutch to set the deflection. The manual will tell you how or there are some How To's here and at MIMB on setting deflection. Very important stuff. Now the switch has to be hit with some part of a shreading belt to trip off. Nothing else can do that. But..if the switch is bad, or if a connector is bad, any momentary loss of power to the CDI will cause the like to come on and stay on until you clear the code...I think we talked about this though. Also 1100 miles or 100 hours on the clock will set the light off too. I had one come up and had to clear it, then the other came on the next ride..had to clear it too. Like we said, the new CDI will wipe all that away.
