Hi 750MUDDER, welcome to the site. Snorkeling tends to cause a carbed Brute to need jetted down, but not at idle. I would suggest taking a look to make sure the throttle and choke cables and the snorkel are not at odd and pulling on each other.

What year Brute do you have?

Oh...up or down? Once when I had my carbs off I rotated them when I put them back on and it put a twist in the cables that pulled on the throttle enough to open the butterflyes and hold the idle stop off the screw. So, that why I say maybe something is pulling on the cable. It does run through that area where most put snorkles.

I bet NMKAWIERIDER is right. You have something that's got the cables in a bind and pulling the trottle open just a hair. This happened to me a while back except it was more than idled high. I didn't know what was going on till I found the problem.
