I currently have a grizzly 660 and I'm pretty sure I'm gonna buy a brute 750 to replace it. I am pretty sold on the brute, but on thing I'm worried about is that Ive heard the front diff isn't very good. Is this really a problem or not that big of deal? What actually happens to the diff? Is there any way to prevent problems with it? Or am I worried about it for nothing? I will be running my 29.5" outlaws on it. I will probably break it in with the stock tires or with a set of 27" Mudzillas I have. Any other issues I should be aware of? Thanks.
Well I cant really say ive heard of any front diff problems on the brutes, nothing internal anyways. sometimes the electronic actuators act up....maybe your thinking of the king quads where they blow that front output gear in the engine case that runs their front diffs.
Only issues with the brutes are the front a-arm bearings failing early, stock tie rods and ends are easy to bend, and the rear suspension knuckles are known to break in half.
On the HL forum some people say the front diff is bad. Something with the side gears siezing on the pins inside or something. Just want to make sure it isn't a big deal before I buy one. I've always been a yamaha guy but yamaha won't make a big twin engine so I'm gonna have to just ship.
I have heard of a few frt diff probs. but for the number of these Brutes out in the field its probably a very small percentage. Mine is a 06 and has had the shiz run outta it. No frt diff probs here or anything else major! I think its like with anything else. There will be some probs with everything you buy, some worse than others. Don't let it stop you. Best quad on the market and I wouldn't have anything else.

Because of the Brutes power, and ability to break things, the Brute's front diff interlock is built for straingth rather then ease of use. As long as you understand what is happening when you activate the unit and allow it to do so fully before you lay-it-to-it, you will be fine. People that don't let it seat completely have it pop out of gear and once it does that a few times, the dogs are rounded and want to pop out all the time. Like Slumlord, I too have an 06 and have had no problems with mine at all. Do the homework, understand the Brute, and service it when needed and she will treat you right.
There is also a pin-problem some have reported as a lack of lubercation. Only a few have had this problem,and I would suspect it was from water getting in and continuing to run it or lack of maintenance and oil changes.
The pin problem is the one I've heard of. That's the same thing I thought. Keep clean oil in the diff and it should be alright.
That's what I'm thinking. 10s of thousands of Brutes have no issues with them.
There is one thing we Brute owner should keep in mind though, we do wear our back tires down way faster then the fronts, so in time the backs are smaller around enough to have a stressing effect on the diffs. As in any 4wd, the fronts and the back have to be the same size. The smaller set will make a revolution faster then the larger set. That does become a problem especialy if you are on hard pack or pavement. This is also why I chose to get all four tires and rims the same on this new set...so I could rotate them. On my old XTRs, placing them side by side you could see the difference. The fronts were at least a half an inch taller then the backs...and nothing I could do about it.
