I am running an E.P.I. maroon primary and almond secondary and still having belt slipping issues. I was told that the almond secondary is not the correct spring to be running which may be why I am working on my third belt after just 300 or so miles. I also have had problems where when I get into something deep the belt slips so bad that the wheels aren't even turning. I am wanting to put 31" outlaws but want to fix the slipping issues first. I am hearing that for the 29.5s that I have or for the 31s I need to go with the yellow secondary spring. I lost about 8mph on top end speed with almond and was wondering what to expect with yellow.
Also if anyone has a secondary clutch compression tool to sell let me know.

Also I am curious if anyone knows if the Dayco HP drive belt are at least as good as the stock belts? I am wondering because I found a place that sells these and for a bit cheaper compared to the stock belt.

I would recomend the OEM (Stock) BF belt. Also the yellow secondary will help a lot with the slipping / smoking but you will have no top end whatsoever.

Here is a spring/tire chart that may come useful..
Maroon (Lighter than stock. Not the same as the maroon primary)
Black (Almost same as stock)
Almond( Good for 27'' and lighter 28'')
Green( Good for heavier 27'' and all 28" )
Lime green( Good for heavier 28'' and maybe 29.5")
Red (Perfect for 29.5'' and the lighter 30")
Blue ( Heavy 28" - 30")
Yellow ( Good on only 30'' or larger most aggressive tires)

Yeah I am going to try the Lime Green first and see what it does. I was able to find a spring compression tool. Thanks for all the help.

Yeah i agree you need a stronger spring then the almond. Most i see posting on HL are running the red with the 29.5's and having good luck but your gonna lose some top end. Have you checked your defection to make sure its adjusted right?
Also if your slipping the belt that much your sheaves could be glazed over or even damaged. Next time your in there be sure to look them over really good for wear/groves. If thats the case no spring will fix it.
And I'm sure you do but it worth mentioning, always use, low gear for slow speeds and the mud.

I talked to the EPI guy and we decided I would try the lime first and see what happens then work towards the yellow until we get the right combination. As far as the primary sheave goes it was scared pretty bad after the last belt that broke. Belt was in pieces. See picture below sorry for the poor quality it was a cell phone pic. Not sure what caused it to come apart in pieces. I was thinking maybe it was a bad belt.

The above was a picture of the most recent broken belt. For whatever reason it was completely destroyed and in pieces. The first broken belt was nothing like that. See picture below.

Here's a pic of the one and only Dayco I ever bought...it lasted 20 miles. The OEMs are the best, although the EPI I have is lasting well.

If the shives are hurt, maybe its time for a...VFJ mod

20 miles wow that's not good. I guess I will stick with the stock belts.
Yeah I messaged VFJ yesterday before ordering new spring. I am going to put new spring in and I hope to get him to mod my clutch as well while its torn down.
