Brute hard to start?
So every now and again, my brute is extremely touchy when starting it. I know i installed a pipe and cdi, which prolly dont help it. Is it because i need to rejet? B/c even when i use the choke it dont always work, usually just the gas and then pump it. If it has been warmed up, it will start fine most of the time. But not always. I have heard of people saying something about adjusting the valves and what not but dont know anything about it. What is some things or suggestions on how to fix it. Thanks.

Re: Brute hard to start?
Well, these can be hard to start for several reasons.
The #1 reason is the valves are too tight and have not been adjusted in a long time. If left that way for too long, the seats burn and you will need a valve job.
The #2 reason is fuel related. Bad Gas, Bad fuel pump, plugged or cracked supply line, Plugged tank vent or cap, water in the gas tank and/or carb bowls, Float levels low...ect.
The #3 reason is electrical related. Bad plugs, bad CDI, weak coils, Rear Buss connecter problems...stuff like that.
The #4 reason is that the engine is just in need of a rebuild and the compression is just low enough to need help starting when cold, but has enough after warmed up to make it on its own...for a while. It should be going through oil in this state though.
Hope this helps.* Good luck 07galaxy650 .

Re: Brute hard to start?
Here is the big problem. I am not a technician.lol. Seriously though, what and how do you do it. I have never fooled with doing this before, but nothing is very hard on these bikes. A little help will be appreciated.Thanks.

Re: Brute hard to start?
I was going to say if you don't have the manual, here's a link to a free 750 manual. the valve service is the same.
www.mmi.org/merrington/atv/files/bruteforceshopmanual.pdf.
On the other hand, it might be time for a visit to the service department. Not cheap, but sometimes worth it. A full "going-over" might be a good thing...if you trust your dealer....and you have a few extra bucks.*

Re: Brute hard to start?
Enigma- Yeah I am the same. When it comes to a vehicle, i got it covered. When it comes to these bikes, i am lost. The concept is the same, but i would rather ask some questions and know i am doing it right.
I wouldnt mind taking it to a dealer and having them go over everything, but I cant afford that right this moment. SO I am stuck doing it myself. Which i enjoy, but some stuff i need help or just assume ask you all b/c chances are you have done it and know some tips. Thanks both of you.
