Default Lowering the brute for better handling

I posted this on a couple of forums looking for ideas.
I just spent the weekend out riding with my brother on his Honda 450R. I was really pretty impressed with my Brute and he was too. The thing I kept thinking was if I could lower my Brute an inch to maybe 2 inchs it would handle much better. I would give up a little bit of ground clearance to be much faster in the corners and less tippy on the Dunes. I figure a really good set of skids would be insurance against the rocks. Just wondering if anyone has tried this, and if anyone is making a kit. I Could move it back to stock if the trail was really nasty with big rocks but scare the sport quads when the trail is no so bad. Just kicking around ideas, might have to see about after market shocks if the lowering won't work. I really like this quad but I want better handling too. My brother really likes how the Brute jumps if it handled better he might even consider getting himself one.

One idea another guy tried was using shorter shocks off a Suzuki 300. I'm trying to find out more about how it worked.

Anyone know where I can get info on possible shock swaps. I can't afford the Elkas I want so I need to find another solution.

Default Lowering the brute for better handling

Read hear about what BruteManKelly has come up with. As of right now he does not have the kit ready to sell, but it sounds pretty promissing.

Default Lowering the brute for better handling

boloiii thanks for the link. I am still looking for ideas to help it handle better. I am going to try and get or make some peg replacements or pieces to just add so they get more bite and kick up on the outside to help with weight transfer (body english) to help corner flatter too.

It is looking like I might have to just bite the bullet and pay for after market shocks.

Update on the lowering kits. They are in the works now. Should have some ready for shipping in a couple of weeks.

Default Lowering the brute for better handling

I personaly dont understand why anyone would want to lower a 4x4 ? want low then buy a sort quad ,yfz450, honda or what ever, but in my opinion you have the wrong bike,I gave up a real performance quad (raptor 700r) to go to a "tank" which is what I consider my b/f750, I think all quads have their places , I love my brute , but there is no way I can even try to compare it to my raptor. they are too totally different animals....I hope I have not offended you , but it's just my 2 cents worth...

For the same reason people drag race trucks or lower trucks or add a third wheel to a motorcycle, it is what they like to do. It is incredible how popular these "tanks" have become on the atv drag strips.

It's just nice when you can take something like the BF 750 and have almost the best of both worlds in one machine. A Rapter is not much competition in a drag race but in the trails he is hard to stay with. Lowering the BF750 closes the gap and if the terain is bad enough maybe puts you ahead on the 4x4. Just some of us like to play fast.

I had a Prairie700 and loved it then bought a V-Force liked the power and the speed but could not get up some of the ugly trails. Now I bought my Brute and love the power like the ride but would like the option of lowering it slightly so It will slide and corner faster. I want to have my cake and eat it too. The engine upgrades will start after I tame the handling. I sometimes think, I should have bought the 650SRA Brute. But it is too late to worry about that now, need to see what I can do with what I have. I will either lower it, get new shocks, or both. Plus it is fun to surprize the sport quads with how quick the big old Brute is.

They are real close. They have been making jigs this week so they can cut and weld them with out my 4-wheeler being there. Looks like maybe end of next week 8/10/07 some could be ready for shipping.
