Snowplowing: Brute or Grizzly?
I know winter is several months off, and personally I'm not looking forward to it yet. Especially after last year! Which is why I'm considering a snowplow. However, I can't decide which ATV I want to outfit with a plow...Keep in mind neither ATV has a winch installed, so this would also mean that the ATV I pick for plowing also gets a new winch. Initially, I leaned toward the Brute because of the additional power it has over my Grizz 700, but I find that from doing chores, the Brute's power is seldom an advantage. In low range, my Grizzly will do everything the Brute will do and will pull the same loads with ease. I've always ran out of traction before running out of power with these machines.
The only advantage I can see with the Brute is that I installed heated grips on it. I only have spider grips on the Grizz, but heated grips may be in its future. The advantage I can see with the Grizz (which may be a big one) is the power steering. My question: From your experience plowing, will power steering be a big asset when plowing? It would seem to me that it would be, but I want to hear from those who have experience. Thanks.

I have a 5' plow and so does my brother. He uses his 660 Grizz. I can safely say that power steering would be a great advantage to either machine. Like you say, power isn't the issue, it's traction and agility. I might be real tempted to put it on the grizz. Their durabelt system also can take the on off power better then the Brute's. Just my 2-cents worth.

i have plowed with both machines and i would use the grizzly on damand 4x4,on/off diff lock, power steering and tighter turning radius makes it a better choice

Need to get you one just so the neighbors can ask questions...and maybe plow some roads!

I agree with the above. Plowing with the Grizzly would be better. First because of the power steering and secondly the belts need far less adjustment on the Grizzlys.

Thanks for the input fellas. I think that settles it. Grizzly it is. I think I'm going with a Viper Max 3500 winch and Moose seems to be the plow of choice for several folks.
