That looks pretty sweet, If you fabbed up the section below the flat pack just right you could probably bolt it on with the factory rack bolts, completely eliminating the factory rack, then sell it to a company that makes the flat packs.....

Nice work. Looks like it took while to make. So, how heavy is it?
I too don't like how heavy the packs are on front and was just looking at mine yesterday trying to see how I could mount a pack on the back with the trunk. I have a big ride coming up in Arizona and will need to have a pack on several rides.

I'm in the process of doing the same thing but with a different design.
All I am using is channel steel, slide the fuel pack into the two outer channels, the channels will be bolted down to the rear rack, three thick metal straps will be mounted on top of the channels to make a mounting point to bolt my hard case to. Whenever I need the fuel pack I'll have easy access to it.
Others mount the fuel pack on the end of the rack, I don't like that much weight sitting out there on the end of my Brute and since I have takin the front rack off and want to leave the front rack off, I need to remount my fuel pack on the rear but in the flat down position.

it weighs 12.6 pounds...i used the bathroom scale lol its taken me about 7 hours to build.. mostly cuz i wanted to get the angles perfect and its square all the way around. its 1 inch tubing but its very thin walled. bus still strong, i don't remember off hand what thickness now...
hmm thats interesting i could almost just make something to bolt it to the oem rack bolts and due away with he stock racks.
originally i was going to build one that hung off the back.. a friend of mine that i ride with has one that he got made for him and it did hang out it wasn't too bad cuz it was on a can am MAX. but he actually broke the racks mounting hardware cuz of the vibration all the time. so i decided to change it up and keep all the weight as close to the center as possible. also i measured compared to a regular hard case its only sits about 1/2 inch higher.
also there will be strips of molded rubber on the racks and metal to reduce vibration wear.

Kinda funny how us guys that took the front racks off will do most anything not to put them back on...lol
Yeah I don't want to mount a pack on its side either. I was even thinking of getting a couple of 2 gallon packs and mount then on the sides of my box. There is enough room and they won't stick out past the rack. I wish they weren't so expensive. Already have three packs.

I already have my Jr packs (3) mounted to the rear box-works great, now when I get the main fuel pack there too, I can carry enough extra gas for a complete fill-up if needed. The Only time I carry that much extra gas is on the Colorado Rockies Trips, as Silverton doesn't allow atv'ers to drive into town to top off with Gas, Ouray as well. Lake City is the only town that allows ATVs on the Streets but you better have your CO off-road sticker displayed along with a out-of-State atv Plate or u will get a Ticket.

yeah those roto pack are the way to go. i have the kolpin flat pack.. i had to modify the spout cuz the dang thing leaked soo much.
lol its much more relaxed in Canada. we do have to have 3rd party liability but no one EVER checks it. in the 4 years i have been quading/biking, i do ride where your not suppose to be riding on the road. but if your being good about it and cautious towards others, the cops don't mind. although there are some @#$%@#$ that are screwing that up for us.. there is this one ride that i like to do it about 160 km one way. but you get into this town called tulameen, and you ride your quad to the bar grab a couple bites to eat then fill up at the gas station on the way out.

Every couple of years we do this event in Arizona. Four days of riding and events. Its in Springer and Eger and they will let everyone ride on the streets. This is one of the years we are going.

Well, can't find the size of Channel steel I need, it is either too small(short) or too big(tall)-so instead I will just use some Alum angle with some metal brakets for supporting the rear box.
So far my Kolpin fuel pack hasbeen fine for no leaks and if it can survive the pounding it takes in the Colorado Rockies that I ride every year then I feel I have no worries here in NM.
