its funny how different people are,i would never put my pack on the back with a trunk already back there with tools etc already weighing it down.the roto pax mount system is absolutely rock solid and have never found it changes the handling at all on the front.adding that weight to the back plus the trunk/tools is to much imo,no problem if you dont have a trunk on it.

I normaly think the same thing. I never think twice about the Roto Pac on the front but... now with these new tires, and having 4 lbs less in back and 8 lbs additional tire weight in front, I was thinking of a set of 2-gal Roto Pacs on either side of the trunk...except another 109 usd when I already have three flat pacs has me standing off a bit.
The fact is...for me...you're right islandbrute, it realy isn't an issue and its kinda nice to have that extra on front when climbing steep stuff. If I am packed-up enough to need the flat pack, the trunk is going to be full and much heavier. I just kinda got used to the rack being off I guess...lol

Yeah, now that I put pen to paper, gas weighs an average of 6.30 lbs per gallon. Times 4 is 25.2. Add two pounds for the pac now you have 27.2 pounds. Add another 25 pounds of tooles, food, water, clothing and...beer ...to the trunk, now you have 52.2 pounds additional on the back...all at or behind the axles. Hmmm..that would sure make the front-end much lighter...maybe too much. Mabe then I too could join the "RackSmacker" club...lol

For between 4-5 months out of the year I fill 7 deer feeders once a week. I carry 7 bags of corn on the back of my Brute. They weigh 50 lbs each. My front basket will be full of game camera, tool box, ice chest with BEER! I have lost a little weight but still push 240 with clothes on! Add the 350 lbs of corn on the back rack and drop down basket, I have to be real careful not to hit the gas very hard or I'm looking at the clouds pretty quickly. The Brute carries the load with very little issues. I did have to upgrade the springs to keep from bottoming out when hitting dips ditches etc... I also twice have had a trailer hooked up loaded with lumber to build a deer cabin also while loaded...The Brute is a work horse like no other!!! Believe me, I have tested it!!

In my case, I'll only be putting the most of 45lbs on the back rack w/the fuel packs(3), if I use all 3 fuel packs. I use a front box on the rear rack for light items. I have my tools in the rear Kawasaki fender bag which mounts low and in frt of the rear axle. It is amazing on how much stuff can go into that rear fender bag.
Now some mount the fuel pack on its side on the back of the rear rack-that I don't care for and won't do. My project is coming along and once again I had to change to a different kind of channel metal to use as the aluminum angle turned out not to my liking.
Most of the time I don't have anything mounted on the frt rack anymore, I'll know soon if I prefer the frt rack off.

i should post up my pics i got it back from powder coating and it looks awesome. also the reason for putting it on the back. was im use to doubling all the time. she is usually about 150..... so 50 pounds on those long hauls is no probs. id much rather deal with rear weight then front weight. plus i want to put a chain saw and shot gun holder on the front.

I have taken the front rack off and I love it. Seems like there is so much more visibility. So far everywhere I ride we have access to either a gas station or are riding from a camp (base of operations) to replentish gas and beer.
