Where to connect ground wire for heated grips?
I'm almost done installing my new Symtec heated hand grips. All I need to figure out is where to put the ground wire. I have 2 options: I can either spice the ground into an existing factory ground wire or I can hook it to the frame somehow(expect I don't see how I can do this). This might be a hard thing to explain, but can anyone give me an idea of where I should ground this wire? Thanks.

I mounted mine behind the pod on the handle bars. if you take the plastic off the handlebar you will see a couple screws. I just took one of them out and grounded the wire to that. I dont like splicing into existing wiring. especially grounds. any bolt that bolts to the frame or the motor will be grounded. you can mount it anywhere

I know the screws you're talking about. I actually looked at them, but I wasn't sure if that was good enough. Thanks! I agree about spicing into existing wiring, but how did you wire the red (hot) wire? I had to spice into the accessory plug. It seemed like the easiest way to go. I hated to do it, but I didn't think I had any other options.

I used the little plastic wire splicer and hookeed mine into the acc plug as well, just make sure you wrap it good so that no moisture gets in and causes corrosion.

I ground mine to the bolt that comes off the frame on either the left or right side on the top of the frame. if you take the housing off around the steering stem and look down you will see them. I could get a socket and wrench in there from either side over the tire.

Symtec grips not working!?
Well I got everything hooked up and grounded, turned the key...the symtec controller didn't light up. I tried putting something into the acc plug and it doesn't work now either. I checked the acc fuse under the seat and it was fine. I disassembled the plastic splice to see if the wires are still contacting and everything looks good. I have no idea what could be wrong. Any thoughts?

Ok I figured it out. I tried another ground spot and it worked. The grips heat up quick! I just need to get a bigger ring terminal and I'll be gtg. The one they provide in the kit is too small for where I want to place the ground. Thanks for the help guys.

Good to hear. the AC terminal from the cigarette lighter plug is the best to hook to because when you turn the key off it cuts power.

I use powermadd but they are more for looks and sticks then deflecting cold air. Moose or I think Koplin or Kempex makes a better winter guard. There are some that you actualy stick your hands into. With gip warmers that would be awsome.
